Following a positive pilot, the SEND Advice Line (SAL) will be relaunched to provide more timely, effective access to information, advice, and guidance to settings, to support them to meet need earlier and reduce escalation of needs. More information on the exact dates of the relaunch and what SENCOs can expect from the SAL will be shared in the next few weeks.

We will also be working with school colleagues to move towards a joint structured conversation and planning meeting with the Educational Psychology Service (EPS) and Autism and Communication (A&C) teams, leading to joined up discussions and less overall commitment by school SENCOs to meetings.

Where possible this will be phased in from the start of this term, the EPS and A&C team will work with you to ensure this is implemented supportively.

As part of this simplification process the Joint Pyramid for Inclusion (JPI) meetings will cease from this term but the SEND Network meetings run by the Special Schools will continue and they will send out information on the network meetings for next year in due course.

The Strategic SEND Inclusion Discussions (SSID) will continue to be offered to all Somerset schools free of charge.
