The over-subscription criteria for Somerset Voluntary Controlled Schools contains a faith criteria which prioritises applications from

  • Children and parents who are practising members of the founding religious body of the school (for example, Anglican or Methodist).
  • Children and parents who are practising members of other churches or religious denominations.

The evidence required for an application to be considered under this criteria is attendance at public worship for at least 6 months before the application closing date.

Because of church closures through Covid-19, parents and their children cannot meet this requirement, so, we have sought a variation from the Office of the Schools Adjudicator, and the evidence required will be attendance at public worship at times when places of public worship are open.

If you would like your child’s application to be considered under this criteria please indicate this on the online school place application form, fill in the Supplementary Information Form – and upload it to your child’s online school place application.
