After listening to feedback from families we have made changes to the way our community therapists make referrals - the process of linking someone to the help and support they need, which usually involves different professionals sharing information with each other.

Sometimes, there are lots of professionals involved, which can make the process slower. Previously in Somerset, requests for support had to pass through your GP. The new system means the request for support goes directly to a paediatrician.

We've been pleased to hear your positive feedback about how this has saved you time, and made the process easier.

The new process means that therapists can also document their concerns more fully which ensures that any urgent issues that need to be assessed sooner are prioritised by the medical team.
