To help schools support students with SEND, Somerset County Council's Educational Psychology Service has developed a new offer for secondary schools in Somerset. Working with Holyrood and Wadham schools, the service has developed the Enhanced Learning Provision initiative. This gives schools extra funding to offer small classes where students can learn at their own pace, and are supported by specialist teachers. They access these dedicated classrooms for the subjects they need help with, and join their year group for other subjects. This has many benefits for students including continuing to be a part of mainstream education and remaining with their year group.

The council is keen to make this new support available to more secondary schools in Somerset. As part of their commitment to increase support for young people with SEND in Somerset, we will be asking schools to return an expression of interest form - look out for details of this being released in January 2023.
