Our new look to Somerset’s SEND Local Offer website has launched – the place to go for SEND information, support and advice.
Since we first launched Somerset’s SEND local offer website, the offer has grown. We’ve taken into account the feedback we have received from you about how and what you would like to see and to ensure our website is fit for the future. We’ve been listening to your feedback and have been working on improvements, which include:
- Seamless link between Somerset’s SEND Local Offer and Somerset County Council’s website
- Creating a website with improved accessibility and search function
- Information aligned across pages
- Removed duplication
- Improved layout and look and feel
We want to make sure that anyone new to SEND in Somerset can find the information they need quickly and easily. Parent carers new to navigating SEND services, told us there is a wealth of information but it’s hard to understand what is important or relevant. We have made improvements to the page layout and navigation, making it easier to move between sections, related subjects and to understand which pages are frequently accessed. Many pages have been grouped and the steps flow easily with forward and back buttons, pages have also been renamed based on your feedback.
This isn’t the end of the journey though, only the start, we’ll continue to improve features based on your feedback. Somerset Parent Carer Forum will audit pages every six months ensuring information remains up to date, relevant and user friendly. You’ll be able to see when the next review is due at the bottom of the page. We’d love it if you could use the ‘Is this page useful?’ link at the bottom of each page to tell us anything that needs improving.
Over the next few months, you’ll see all the other visuals around Somerset’s SEND Local Offer aligning: on the website, in social media posts and on letters and leaflets (though not in a way that will keep you from the important business of getting the information you need, of course). We are still Somerset’s SEND Local Offer, but hope more consistent and, accessible.
